Fight for the pleasure.

Every self respecting 80’s Realms of Chaos Champion loves themselves a bit of Heavy Metal and when it comes to Oldhammer metal, well I’m afraid you can keep your Bolt thrower there is only one band that really reigns over the chaos wastes for me, Iron Maiden. To that end I’ve decided that my champion needs an anthem. From now on every appearance he  makes the following music will play just like with the entrance of a modern fighting champion. It may only be in my head but it will be playing.

Now I challenge the other champions out there, particularly those of the blood god to out awesome me with their anthem.

  1. Come on, Slaanesh owns heavy metal music lock, stock and barrel. What chance do Khornies have?

  2. Oh yeah! Maiden and Metallica will always be my warhammer soundtrack...I think I will use "trooper" for the "theme song" for my dwarf army....die with your boots on baby!

  3. An interloper! Eddie ain't no dwarf...but good choice with trooper, I guess what else.

And pleasure to kill! My aesthetic is more awesome (some would unkindly say cheesey) than thrash but still happy to bang along at work to it. Indeed I may have to give your choice a 10 out of 10. Unfortunately my choice was the irons and so I go up to 11.

    1. Ok, I don't know how to compete with a Spinal Tap reference. Up the Irons. Personally, I always associate their 1986 'Somewhere in Time' album with the release of Rogue Trader and the blossoming of a hobby obsession. Have you noticed that two of the tracks, 'Caught Somewhere in Time' and 'Deja Vu' sum up Oldhammer very well?

  4. Great choice Erny - I also accept your challenge

  5. Someone always has to go one better! Concept album! Don't go there, that way lies several hours of mind expanding, chaos waste style Yes tracks.

I read somewhere that metal is the retreat of the emotionally immature male, I don't necessarily disagree, it perhaps fits well with playing with old toy soldiers in fantasy worlds. However I also don't care, love metal, love Motörhead which I guess is Khornes one and only true hope in the metal war.

  6. The lyrics to The Ace of Spades sums up oldhammer quite well: "You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me, The pleasure is to play, it makes no difference what you say, I don't share your greed..."

I've made the Oldhammer playlist collaborative, so if anyone is on Spotify you should be able to add tracks. Tho' I might turn that off if it gets too hair-metal :-)
