Property developer, classic warhammer fantasy town houses.

My wife booked a last minute holiday for last week so although we all enjoyed ourselves I lost a precious week of painting. I’ve also been stressing, probably needlessly about having enough houses inside the city. I have quite a few of the Conflix houses that at the time of buying were reasonably priced. They are clearly inspired by, in some cases built directly from, the plans by Pil Lewis and Dave Andrews in white dwarfs all those years ago.  What do you think?

Well given I already had some in that style I thought it would be a good idea to resurrect another old project. Back in the day as a 13 year old I built a couple of town houses, I remember being very satisfied with the results but not pleased with how long it took. Those original two buildings survived, if in a collapsed state and a couple of years ago I started rescuing them. The walls had been made from in one case corrugated card in another the card from the back of an A4 refill pad. The corrugated card was still usable but the other had warped. I stuffed the warped building with polystyrene and it became usable once more. The roofs were appalling with incredibly large roof tiles. I re-tiled one roof with card tiles of a suitable size and there the project lay dormant. I have now done the second roof, buying in laser cut tiles from Fenris Games. These are a tad expensive at about £5.99 a sheet which did for this roof but the Conflix houses go for about £28 now so not terrible.  they were quick to use with a hot glue gun too. I like how the look. I repaired the timbering and added some cobbled plasti-card. Just an afternoons work and they look good.

This is the first one, new roof, new chimney (the pots are map pins), new base but the walls are original 13 year old Erny.

The second with the Fenris tiles added. I've already undercoated the polystyrene chimneys to stop them melting when I spray the houses.

Off for undercoating then.

    1. Cheers, much easier than I remembered so I'll probably make more, don't hold your breath though.

  2. I love the map pins as chimney pots. I also really like the glazed diamond pane windows on the first finished house - how did you achieve that effect. Is it wire?

    1. I'm afraid that is one of the Conflix ones, clearly made using the WD patterns. I believe they used car body work mesh back in the day.

  3. I'm riding to the rescue here (to an extent).

I did some research on the Conflix ones and found some on Amazon for about £20 so about a third cheaper than you've said. I've spent a little bit of dosh and they should arrive on Wednedsay thank's to a £1.99 charge for delivery to an Amazon Locker just up the road in the local Co-Op so I saved hugely on delivery too.

I've wanted some of these for myself for sometime now and whilst I've spent a little I feel it's a long term investment so justified (the Amazon Locker also means I the other half won't notice them being delivered).

OK, it's not a huge amount of extra houses but it's 5 more than before I bought them................

I'll be marking the beses in some way so we know who's is who's at the end of the weekend bash!

  4. Looking very good. I'm impressed you kept those buildings for so long and in such good nick.... I have been buying houses from Hovels, which were released in 1984, so suitably old school.

    1. They will go fine with your very early citadels in true 25mm scale, unfortunately a bit on the small side for my later 28mm chaps.
