Orctober is comming!

‘Erz da fing, dem spikey Gitz get all the atensun wid speshal books an rules an even get ta have a big crumping bash all ov  deir own on War’ammer day.

They ain’t even all that green most ova time. Was dat all abaht?

Anywayz in a effert ta make fings right I’ve gone an stuck me gut ripper right up Erny and perswad  convinsa made 'im try an make a difference. Over ta the skinny ummie.

Yes, quite, all hail lord Ashcan the mighty.  But he does have a point doesn’t he everywhere I look it's chaos this, Chaos that. Chaos is great and all but where are the Green skins’ campaigns?  The special scenarios pitching orc against goblin detailing the bad ass badlands?  Chaos wastes are so last month.

To redress the balance on this blog I’m going to make this coming month all about green skins. I urge you all to follow suit, it is after all Orctober.

I have a box of these spare... and other things.
I have my, "painted to current standard" Orc army to display for you all.

I have future projects for the army planned.

I have a campaign system,  Warlord, Battle in the Badlands to post up for you all to download (think chaos warbands but greener). I’d love to see some games of this played out.

I have musings on 3rd ed and 4th ed goblinoids to get off my chest.

I even have some give aways lined up.

Anyway just hoping to subtly nudge you all into doing whats right and plan much greeness for this Orctober.

  1. Though Chaotic from the very beginning (i.e. my debut in RPG and wargaming), I do get the "chaos this, chaos that" but as enlighted in the recent poll on the forum, greenskins don't lack any love ;)
I'm not a fan of goblinoids in general and I believe Halflings, pygmees, norse, amazons or even nipponese do get even less attention.
Anyway, orc fans' dedication is slowly proving useful as I'm beginning to have more interestin goblinoids than I used to. Everything will have to be settled on a big table with chaos, undead and OnG's struggling for the most popular villain army !

  2. Haha, don't get me wrong I love chaos just want to bang on about Orcs and give some away. Having Orctober so conveniently named gave me an excuse.

  3. Don't leave Skaven out of the big villain bash.

Orctober sounds great, I may even contribute myself but only if you support the Year of the Rat in 2020!!!!!!

    1. Won't you get board of painting rats in 2020 and want to do some Skaven. We will have had 7 Orctobers by then anyway...

  5. Battle in the badlands sounds like a great time and a lot of work on your part.
Are you including mork and gork as patron gods simair to ROC or coming up with your own system of rewards?
Either way looking forward to it.

    1. There is a post all of it's own, I'm not a fan of mork and gork though there is no reason others shouldn't love them.

  7. My first army (4th Ed.) was greenskins, and I can't help picking up the odd Goblinmaster sculpt every now and again. I like the idea of an Orc warlord campaign very much and shall be keeping an eye out for when you post it :)

Funnily enough, I was idly pondering yesterday during a particularly thrilling meeting whether there could be a Bretonnian version - landless knights trying to carve out a fief for themselves and expand the Kingdom into the wilderness.

    2. Sounds good Rab, I'm planning to expand the warlord game to the worlds edge mountains in another document, including skaven, undead and dwarven warlords. I think you may like the experiance system I've come up with..

  8. Well it beats Movember!

Nice one Erny - good to see it is easy being green.

Your campaign system sounds great as I have one or two Goblinoids in my collection and I'm most interested to hear your musings...

  9. I'm in. I actually was thinking about this very thing the other day. Getting to be an Orc warlord must be a real challenge and could definitely be a game in itself. I'm partial to Gruumsh and the other gods of the Orc pantheon from Deities and Demigods, if it's not heresy to cross fluff.

  12. Erny, this is great! I am doing Orcs, and will be posting up stuff on my blog, and now I have a name for this month! ;) Very cool - but I'm still cleaning my old minis. Your army though is a great motivator so I can't wait to see where it all goes. Also looking for the badlands download - gotta few young bucks who will try it out with me (they play 8th, but I'm trying to get them thinking straight ;) )
