Now after Chico resurrected the idea of doing Warhammer armies poses I decided to go for it myself. Here we have me in Goblin master pose it seamed appropriate.
Now a closer look at the units:
Twenty orc boys with a champion I'm really please with how this unit turned out, it contains many of my original orc boys from back in the day.
Another twenty Orcs with champion made up of marauders excellent orcs, notice a chariot rider that I couldn't resist putting in the front rank.
Nine snortas with Champion and magic banner. You may recognise them from my banner.
Twelve arrer boyz these are also very old collected from junk bins in toy soldier shops over the years before the days of e-bay.
More Arrer boyz, twenty two, all armed with crossbows.
My wyvern rider, classic mini and I guess the center piece of the force. That rounds off all the orc units on to the goblins.
Two units of ten wolf boys. One unit of Marauder and one of Citadel, not sure which is my favorite, what do you think?
Twenty eight gobbos with spears, shields and light armour.
Forty goblin stikkas. I don't care how rubbish they are or how tough the opponent forty short bows are going to mess your day up. particularly when you have fanatics hidden in your midst.
Speaking of which here are the mad little runts. These have only had a very quick paint, literally the night before the big day I got these painted as much as I could they certainly need revisiting and I have a few more slotta and pre slotta fanatics to add to the ...? What is a group of goblin ball and chain fanatics called, a frenzy, a whirl, a mosh?
You can also see on of the armies goblin wizards.
So here are some old trolls and stone throwers that also need attention from the brush. There is also a marauder black orc pretending to be a hero while he waits for the rest of his unit to be painted.
So whats next, I could do with getting the bits that need finishing done first but I think bumping the trolls up to ten is a must followed by more boys for each of the two infantry blocks and an army banner.
For even further in the future I need to get the two orc RoR painted, goblin and orc chariots, a third unit of boys, more boar riders, and well the list goes on.
For those interested the 3000 point army list is here:
3000pt orc army list
Thanks ABG, a great compliment coming from you!Delete
I'm sorry, but your Kevin Adams pose is just not cutting it for me.ReplyDelete
If you really want to accurately replicate his pose from "Armies" then your head has to be in contact with the table! Well, that's how it appeared to me anyway :)
Nice green skin horde you got yourself there.
Yes I have to agree, I needed more of a lean going on, maybe I'll do better next time when I have the next 3000pts painted up.Delete
Your army is looking amazing Erny!ReplyDelete
Cheers mate. I just need to get something different painted to this standard for this years meet.Delete
That's a big challenge! Good luck, any ideas what you'll go for?Delete
Lovely greenskins. They were my first army (5th ed?) and I always get that tug of nostalgia to start another when I see a horde like this. Ten trolls? Ouch!ReplyDelete
(my mistake - 4th ed.)Delete
I actually have a separate collection of 4th ed orcs and goblins. I love the KA night goblins from that era.Delete
Great army! I've been neglecting my greens lately, but seeing this lot makes me want to get a Snortas mob finished.ReplyDelete
Also, nice kitchen.
Damn, I'm middle aged.
Yes do the Snortas, I really love you take on the green skins and your boar with war paint is the bees knees.Delete
Glad you like the kitchen, a few people have commented so I guess the wife must have good taste.
An excellent and inspirational post.ReplyDelete
Another guy from whom it is an honor to get such a compliment, thanks TS look forward to seeing more of your green skins.Delete
A triumph. A beautiful army and very inspiring. Makes me want to put down these WW2 minis I've been working on and go dig some gobbos out of the lead pile. In fact I think I'll do just that. Damn. Painting table's getting crowded. Anyway congratulations on a magnificent army. The Warhammer Armies Book Kev Adams pose is perfectly executed As well.ReplyDelete
Cheers mouse. As it happens I'm painting BEF at the moment for a bit of Chain of Command.Delete
As mentioned a while back a very belated pat on the back - these guys look fantastic.ReplyDelete
I am a bit jealous of your crossbows but then I suppose my Ruglud's have that option now!
Perhaps some time our two tribes will have to join up and take on all comers, once we've had a dust up to decide who the mightiest warlord is.Delete
A beautiful army.ReplyDelete
I'm just about to start on my small little band of goblins beginning with wolfriders. Can I ask where that musician is from (citadel group). I didn't realise there was a musician wolfrider in the range!!!
He is actually one of the larger snotlings not too hard to find on ebay.Delete
Love this army and all old school like mine ( I have some 4th ed metals but not as many as i have 3rd) how'd you do the skins im trying to figure out how they did the orc skin back in the 3rd ed book I want mine the same and yours look very close.ReplyDelete
