Sail of the Century

I've only ever painted one sail this century and this is it. Now it isn't a master piece and really was painted in very little time but I was so pleased with it I thought I'd share it with you. It gives a little clue to the name I'm going to give my Sea Elf ship. Not a great clue but you could get half the name from it. It's my copy of something much better by Gary Chalk.

    Whaddaya mean it's no masterpiece?! It's gorgeous. And very Chalkian (Chalwegian?). You've got a lot of complex colouration going on in that face - maybe it's just my computer screen, but it looks like there are even some green outlines in there. Cool.

      Like I said I'm pleased with it but it all ended up my messy style rather than the Chalk cleanness we all know and love. But thanks for the compliment. It very encouraging from an artist such as yourself.

    Yeah, it's terrible....wait, no it's not! It's bloody ace man!!!!!

    If I tried to paint a face like that it'd end looking like a half sucked aspirin!

    p.s. did you get that crappy game show in the UK too did you? Hopefully it wasn't a drawn out affair.

      This is what you get if you straight copy a masters work, I can't claim anything I just put the paint in the same places as Mr Chalk.

      And yes we did get the TV show, I thought it was UK only clearly not.

    Brilliant sail I say.
    Is the ship to be called Nicholas Parsons perchance? On second thoughts Legolas Parsons as it is an elf ship :)

      Maybe it should be call Legolas Parsons but no. If you look for where the Sun is from and I belive it to be quite famous for anyone interested in 3rd ed warhammer then you will get a name.

    Thank God I just need a tatty old black sail for my ship!

    I'm guessing you'll have the word Sommer in the name somewhere?

      You don't need to do anything with your sail, you whole ship is a master piece, not to mention ythe sculpture your palnning for the head.

      Hmmm - probably being really dense but you got me stumped!

      On a related note - I was well impressed today when I had my new class for September in and one of the girls brought in a copy of Fire on the Water. I had mentioned that we'd be writing our own game books and played through a bit of the adventure Ian Livingstone wrote for schools on the previous session. I have a feeling that it's going to be a very successful topic again!

      As your the only one still pondering I'll give you and anyone reading this another clue. Check your warhammer armies book...

      But with referance to Fire on the Water, maybe I should call it Sommerswerd.

    That sail is extremely impressive and you should take great pride in it. I'm really enjoying your sea elf ship come together, so very curious about what the crew will look like!
