After a lot of thinking and some helpful suggestions I've decided to end the year making a start on my old sea elves. These could form an allied contingent to the 80's empire force I'm working on. Not strictly by the armies book but they will make a nice bunch of merchant guards from a sea elf quarter of some city or other.
They can also venture deep into the interior of a long dreamed of jungle/volcanic island. Also inhabited by Slann, Dark Elves and who knows what other evils, probably some Norse maybe even Nipon or Cathay.
Anyway here is where I start.
Fantastic idea! Can't wait to see the colour scheme. Merry Christmas to the Erny clan!
ReplyDeleteAnd merry Christmas to the Warlord clan.
DeleteGreat figures from the hayday of Citadel!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Ross
They are some of my earliest figures but I could easily be persuaded to collect more form this time period.
DeleteOooo very nice. Not seen these figures before! Sadly the emergence of recent projects has pushed my sea elves well down the list of things I need to work on, but your inspiration may well cause the sea elves to rise again!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, on the subject of sea elves allied to empire, have you seen these? http://whiteknightminiatureimperium.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/more-sea-elves.html WK says he'll be making them available for fellow collectors some time in the new year.
ReplyDeleteToo many projects not enough time. Whilst those Sea elves are nice and I love the dwarves, have loads, I don't see them making their way into my collection, they are too different to existing stuff.
DeleteMerchants guard? great idea! Have you got a Citadel ME24 Gondor Citadel Guard? Always thought they looked similar to Elwings but a bit updated, strangely scaled tho'. Looking forward to seeing these progress.
ReplyDeleteI have long wanted to do the army of the walled off high elf quarter of some city, perhaps Marienburg. Perhaps profits are so good in the city if it ever came under siege they would help defend it rather than just sail off. I rather think we woudl be more likely to see it in action during some sort of revolt of the people. Now there is a scenario, the workers are revolting can the merchant guards defend the Elven quarter?
DeleteMost excellent. Perhaps a few WIP posts to keep the mojo going.
ReplyDeleteThat is the plan Sean, we shall see if I get the time however.
DeleteI just need to get my hands on the city guard now. Used to hate them, love them now.
