With Oldhammer weekend fast approaching it really is time to get the brush hours in. I've promised to run Forenronds Last Stand, you know that scenario you've had ever since you bought 3rd but never played. I've played it a few times, with card counters and a couple of times with painted minis. So I can field all the forces but I've set myself the task of sprucing up, or in this case replacing some of the units.
These are Erny's Roamers, Erny is a good name and it is from this enigmatic leader of gobbos that I take my on line moniker. They are MM goblin wolf riders though the champion is a converted infantry champion. I prefer him to the actual MM wulfboy hero model which is also almost painted. The standard is also non-standard representing a trophy captured from a unit of quarellers they quarrelled with. The standard dwarf's head now decorates the top of the banner and I've tried to go for a Gary Chalk look to the banner itself. Anyway enjoy:
Now these photos should be in focus, I recently rediscovered my tripod in the garage. The last set of photos of the gobbo spears were not so whilst I had the lights and scenery out I took a few snaps of the infantry. Let me know what you think.
Lovely pictures Erny, I hope the planets align and I get an opportunity to join in a FLS game. Very nice banners indeed, though I love the leering face shield too!
ReplyDeleteI was quite pleased with the shields but then they are molded on. I'm not sure how I'm going to fit everything in either, play it by ear I guess.
DeleteExcellent painting there. I particularly like the banner ( a la Chalk) and also the nice bright foliage tufts on the bases. Cracking stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks Springfeld I'm glad the banner is a convincing enough Chalk homage. More coming soon.
DeleteLovely Goblins.
ReplyDeleteI Iike the infantry red colour and shield device tying the unit together. Also the check pattern of the bagpipes and the wolf rider standard. The wolf riders have a great feel of movement and in-bound mischief.
The toadstalls are a great little touch on both.
Always good to see Goblins :)
Hopefully some day our two tribes will clash on the battle field, or even take the oldworld together from the weak manlings..
DeleteI think that's why I love the marauder sculpts, they are full of malevolent mischief.
Green skins and mushrooms... that's a nice recipe :) Good choice of miniatures.
ReplyDeleteGood paint job, mouths wolfs are clearly defined !!
Bye Nico.
High praise indeed Nico, I was pleased with the mouths too. I could have spent a lot longer on these guys but decided there was too much else to do and they were good enough.
DeleteWell you know my love of marauder goblins and particularly the wolf riders so this is right up my alley! They look great and I like the very subtle conversions...I may have to steal the idea of the infantry champion. The banner is great too...well done.
ReplyDeleteGo for it with the champion conversion, I'm not certain it is an original idea, marauder always seam to do a champion in a similar pose and they always look good mounted. Anyway more high praise so I'm doing something halfway right. Shame you took the dead dwarf with no comment, what good is a rotting dwarven head if even Blue is unfazed.
DeleteGreat figures full of wonderful details. I've got goblins on my mind and have several units stood up in ranks and ready to start cleaning up for paint.
ReplyDeleteI've been offline too long, just checked out your Old Skull tribe, now there are some orcs and goblins! Bravo sir.
